ATELIER 131

ATELIER 131 is a Sydney-based label founded by brothers Marco and Luca Grasso, built on intention, introspection, and everyday wearability. Born from a shared desire to design beyond trends, the brand blends Italian heritage with Australian ease—balancing sharp cuts with relaxed silhouettes, subtle tailoring with softness. Each piece is made to move with you, physically and emotionally—carrying stories, memory, and presence in the fabric.

Grounded in the philosophy of taking your time, ATELIER 131 rejects fast drops in favour of thoughtful design, slow release, and meaningful connection. From sherpa pullovers to reimagined football jerseys, their collections quietly challenge the pace of fashion, offering pieces that feel worn-in, lived-in, and considered from start to stitch.

MARCO & LUCA grasso FROM ATELIER 131

  • Luca: Sounds very cliché, but nothing goes to plan. Like, nothing. There’s so many different things—supply complications, financial stuff, time constraints—time is a massive thing. But yeah, one thing I’d say is: nothing goes smoothly, and that’s okay. If you expect everything to go to plan, it’s just not realistic.

Marco: Yep. You’ve gotta be agile. It makes you better at adapting. For me though, I’d say networking. No one really tells you how gatekept it can be—especially in fashion. It’s hard to find genuine, reliable connections. So you’ve gotta build your own network, your own community, and protect that.

  • Luca: I think it’s really situational. A lot of it is just reading the room—or the person. Obviously social media is a huge part of it—I do a lot of the messaging, reaching out to people, just being direct like, ‘Hey, we’re ATELIER 131, we’d love to work with you.’ But at the same time, nothing beats in-person. Markets and retail spots have been huge. When someone can actually feel the garment, see the fit, and talk to us face-to-face—it builds trust way faster than a DM ever could.

Marco: Yeah, 100%.  And I’d say it’s about finding the balance between reaching out and being open to opportunities. Like, if I see someone’s work I really like, I’ll send them a message—simple. But I also think being selective matters. Not every collab or connection is the right fit. You have to go with your gut. If something feels off, don’t force it. But if you vibe with someone’s energy and it feels mutual, that’s when the best stuff happens. And that’s how you build a real network—not just followers, but community.

  • Marco: Start with intention. Don’t just copy what’s trending. Be true to your own voice, and really sort out your branding before launching. Learn basic design, and sample everything first—it saves money and time.

Luca: And be patient. Nothing ever goes to plan—and that’s okay. Learning to adapt is part of the journey.

Marco: Also, network with people who feel aligned with your values. Community matters. It’s not just about what you know, but who you build with.
